Dear Ones,

Remember in Part I I spoke of an opportunity to cook a meal or entertain someone you don’t know real well. This doesn’t have to be a big deal or a burnt offering to God. You should realize that the most important thing is hospitality and fellowship. (I Peter 4:9)

I remember years ago, as an elder in the church, I was asked to entertain a missionary home on leave from the field. I was not going to cook so I thought taking him to our local Chinese restaurant would be cool or at least had a missionary flare since it was a part of China we were visiting for dinner (smile). Anyway it was wonderful! We both shared ideas and talked like we had known each other for years (fellowship). What a great time just being ourselves and sharing and not even in a Christian setting. Sometimes you really can’t get to know someone until you fellowship out of the zone.

In John 21:1-14 Jesus cooked up a great breakfast by the sea for His friends. I would have loved to have been there amidst the fellowship and just getting to know Him better.

The most important thing is not to overcompensate since just spending time together is the most important thing and not the food, but of course you don’t want to make someone ill (smile).

Another easy thing you can do is just have someone over (or take out) for dessert. Everybody likes dessert and you don’t have to worry how the roast turns out! Whatever you do for the Lord always seems to work out well – just relax and watch God work.

Love you and be a blessing

Brother Walt

P.S. A good definition for fellowship: Two fellows in a ship rowing in the same direction.
