A Poem about Faith by Christian poet Walter Irwin

In His Time

“I could be, I would be, I should be!
Is that all you can see in me?”

Some think I should head in another direction.
Some say: “Not there! You’re in need of correction.”

Everyone seems to know what I should do.
I don’t want to offend, but what I need is His cue.

It may seem that in this place I’m missing the mark,
But contrary to what you may think, to His will I embark.

Although this is not a place of praise and applause,
The lives I can effect is ample cause—

To continue in His calling at this time in the race.
Always allowing Him to use me whatever the case.

To wherever He sends me I’m ready to stand.
In obedience to Him I am faithful to His command.

“I could be, I would be, I should be!
Is that all you see in me?

Remember what Jesus said to Peter;
“What is that to thee!” (John 21:22)

Note: “Faithful”: this is the area He judges Christians – Not Success – A very important lesson for us to learn
