Sometimes as laypeople it is easy to but ministry in a box confined to church work. I don’t know about others but I struggle with several things

  • Whether I do enough. If I look at others I think they are doing more than me, but God always tells us not to focus on others but on Him. Also if I have to say no to service in order to work I tend to feel guilty, and the enemy tries to tell me I idolize my work. I have to embrace truth and renew my mind, asking God to help me find balance and to help me remember that work is a provision of God.
  • Staying inside the box. Serving God looks like being a missionary, going on a short-term mission trip or taking the youth group to a soup kitchen right? But what about all those lost, hurting people that we come in contact with every day through our secular work?
