Several weeks ago I was in my shop sewing late at night. It had been a dry summer so far but now a storm was almost here. In a moment the heavens opened and rain poured down. We had been waiting for rain and finally it was here.
In that moment the Lord gave me these words.

Heaven’s Rain

Steady rain falls

On parched thirsty ground

Sun, scorched

Dry, with yellowed grass

That crackles underfoot

That was then and this is now
Rain…watering the ground
Drink deep
Be refreshed with cool water
Soak in heaven’s blessing

Pour our Your Spirit
Rain down on me
My dry and thirsty soul
Drinking deeply-satisfied
Revived, refreshed again

The thunder roars
The storm intensifies
But still I drink
In the center of the storm
Fed by heaven’s rain

Glory Hallelujah
For I am saturated
Overflowing, pouring out
Even as lightening flashed
Thriving in the midst of a storm
