During Bible study this morning, God reminded me about the Passover in Egypt. What really struck me was the blood on the door posts. Exodus 12:7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. Exodus 12:12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgement: I am the Lord.

The Holy Spirit led me to consider this passage, very carefully. God said he would pass through the land of Egypt. God didn’t stop in each house and measure each man’s good deeds. It was the blood upon the door posts that God didn’t smite. Obedience. Simple. Those that obeyed the word that God gave to Moses escaped the smiting of God. Think about this, although most of us have an intellectual grasp on what I’m about to share, I find it never really buried itself in my heart and soul as it should have. The BLOOD. It has always been about the BLOOD. This night that God visited Egypt to execute judgement was about the BLOOD. The obedience of those that applied the BLOOD to their door posts. OBEDIENCE led those to salvation by the BLOOD.

This truth brings me to John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Believe. If you believe the covering of Jesus’ blood will save you, you are saved. It is right there! The BLOOD. Somehow I forget I’m covered in the blood of Jesus and that is the only reason I am saved. The only reason I am worthy to stand before God and ask Him through prayer to meet my needs and the needs of others. The BLOOD.

Today, I am asking God to bury the truth of the BLOOD deep within me. I cannot and do not want to forget the most beautiful part of my salvation. The BLOOD covers and cleanses me, allowing me to stand NEW before God because of His son Jesus.

What really moved me on this topic was in Exodus. Those that obeyed that night were saved. We sometimes forget that God sees the BLOOD, our obedience in believing in the POWER of the BLOOD. Not our ethnicity, not our sins, not our background, not our ‘religion’. There are plenty of examples of God not destroying or smiting a civilization or people because they BELIEVED. I know that night, God did not see Egyptian or Jew. God saw the BLOOD. The OBEDIENCE shown through BELIEVING.

Exodus 12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. Exodus 12:29 And it came to pass, that at midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn cattle.
